I started out doing theatre and commercials, and in 2019 I was cast as one of the leads in the Amanda-nominated feature film Den siste våren (Sister What Grows Where Land is Sick) by Fransicka Eliassen.

We had a chat with Keira LaHart. She is a Norwegian-American actor with over 30 productions to her name, already building a strong presence across film and theatre. We talked about working on award-winning projects, the challenge of exploring different types of characters, and why versatility is at the core of her approach to acting.
Who are you, and what do you do?
I am a Norwegian-American actress based in the Oslo area. I started out doing theatre and commercials, and in 2019 I was cast as one of the leads in the Amanda-nominated feature film “Den siste våren” (Sister What Grows Where Land is Sick) by Fransicka Eliassen. I am always looking to explore new types of characters and enjoy collaborating with talented cast and crew.

What is the latest project you worked on that you are proud of?
One of the latest projects I worked on that was very meaningful, both during production and when watching it afterwards, is the short film Kokepunkt by Carl Georg Rødsten. The film won the short film competition “Altforkort” in December and is a powerful piece shot entirely in one take. I play the younger sister in the film.

If your work could give the audience one feeling, what would it be?
I believe that as an actor, you cannot have just one voice unless you want to be typecast. Being able to explore a wide range of characters is what makes acting both fun and challenging.
It’s exciting to see young filmmakers in Norway embracing a variety of topics and genres. One of them is Jakob Zimmer, an up-and-coming director who already works with a level of professionalism comparable to more experienced directors I’ve collaborated with.

Who in Oslo should get the spotlight next, and why?
Carl Georg Rødsten. He has a way of telling stories that pulls you in and never lets go. I’ve had the privilege of reading one of his in-progress scripts, and it’s definitely something to look forward to seeing on the big screen.
